Criminology Shoot 3, Headland Old Town Hall, Shoot 2 - 18th March.

The lighting effect worked very effectively
Once our equipment was set up we had some time before the actors arrived. Kyle suggested we get some shots to show the passing of time to show the interviews as a repeated process.
Kyle wanted an image like a sunray through the crack of curtains to move across the callender as though the sun had moved through the course of the day.
We set up a redhead and closed the barn doors till almost closed but this didn’t focus the light to a thin enough focused band. Kyle tried shading the light more with his hands which did close the light band up more than it was but the light was not controllable. Upon seeing this I removed another set of barn doors from another redhead, mounted them on a light stand with gaffer tape and placed them in front of the first. When closed right up this worked very well creating a band of light that could be swung from side to side in a controlled manner. The effect worked very well and we took a number of shots of the band moving across several days on the calendar.
Once Neil and Phil arrived we continued with the shots that we had started on the first day.

Kyle gives Neil and Phil some direction for the next shot.
We had decided to try to get more movement in the shots and to this end we had taken the slider and a dolly along with us to the shoot. Whilst we did use the slider in one shot we actually found the dolly so much more useful. Again the shoot went very well.
